Create a Forum Topic
Discussions that happen on your Obsidian Portal campaign's forums occur inside of threads of posts called topics. As the GM of (or participant in) a campaign with access to Ascendant features, your campaign forum is whatever you choose to make it with your topics. Whether for play-by-post, coordinating game sessions, bluebooking or anything in between, your topics remain safely on the campaign's forums - so long as you or the GM don't delete them (see Delete a Forum Topic).
To create a forum topic:
- Navigate to the dashboard of the campaign you wish to create a forum topic for.
- Click the "Forum" tab.
- Click the "+" icon in the left hand column.
- Enter a topic name in the "Name" input field.
- Select a location from the subforum drop-down (if displayed).
- Enter the desired message in the topic body text area.
- Click the "Save" button.
After clicking to save, you will be redirected back to the "Forum" tab to view your newly created topic . A brief notification will indicate that "Your topic was created. Everyone has been emailed." All campaign participants will be sent an email about the post containing a link to view the topic - where they can then post a response if they wish to do so (see Create a Forum Post). Unless you are the GM, or have been promoted to the role of Co-GM (see Promote a Player to Co-GM), you may only edit your own topics (see Edit a Forum Topic).
Note: Alternatively, you may utilize the "+" icon from the "Forum" section of the dashboard to reach the topic creation interface.
