iframe Support

Getty Images has just joined the legion of content platforms that support embedding of their hosted content using iframe.

OP's lack of iframe support has come up again and again in the help tickets:

iframe to embed a Google calendar

iframe to embed a Google Docs spreadsheet

iframe to embed a SkyDrive spreadsheet

iframe to embed a spreadsheet

iframe to embed a YouTube video with a specified size

I'm not a developer, and I don't understand the ins and outs of supporting iframe embedding. It seems from Micah's 2011 comment that there was concern about content platforms changing things on their side and OP having to adapt. While I'd expect OP to adapt to changes by the bigger platforms like YouTube, I'd rather have iframe embedding supported with the caveat that not all iframe platforms would work perfectly all the time than have the current situation of no iframe support.

The currently supported media embedding platforms, YouTube, Vimeo, and SoundCloud, all provide code for iframe embedding, so adding iframe wouldn't result in any loss of supported content.

I too would love to see iframe support.

I would love the ability to embed a Google Docs spreadsheet, this could be cool.

Embedding google sheets (iframe) is number one on my wishlist.

I agree it would be cool, but allowing users to embed arbitrary iframes can be a security issue.

Brantai, yes, but I'm sure there are workarounds that balance functionality and security. It could be an Ascendant-only, GM-only feature, so users' identities would have been validated in the Ascendant checkout process. It could be for approved iframes hosts only, with all others blocked. The ability to embed Google iframes would satisfy most users' requests.
