Reminder emails not going out anymore?
I have two campaigns and neither one of them seems to be sending reminder emails. I just clicked the "Send reminder" link on my next event (see http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/hj-serpents-skull/calendar ) and nothing seems to have happened. I'm not sure how long this has been happening, the last time I received one of those emails looks like it was on February 13th, but we've had a long string of cancelled sessions so there's only be a few times since then I should have received one.
I don't know if it's relevant, but I did have an issue with my Ascendant membership between February and now. My annual renewal had tripped but the credit card number on account had expired. I fixed that and everything looked OK, but maybe some flag somewhere got set wrong?

I seem to be having the same issue; no reminder emails are going out (at least to me!).

It definitely shouldn't be an issue with the Ascendant membership.
I'm still getting reminders when the events are created, but there may be
an issue with the daily reminders going out. I'll take a look.

The reminders-on-creation seem to be working, but the daily reminders or clicking "send reminder" seems not to be.

Yep, looks like there's a problem with some of our background tasks. I'm
working on it now and hope to have it fixed this evening.
I really appreciate bug reports like this because sometimes these things
fail silently and it's tough for us to know they're not working.

This is not fixed. I have a reminder set for four days before the current session on Friday that did not go out to anybody, including me.

Weird. I've seen two go out for my Monday night game now, so it's been fixed for at least one of my campaigns (the other meets monthly so we haven't been due for a reminder yet).
The ones I've seen were the default one day ahead of time version so maybe that's related?

The day-before alert went out today, correctly. The four-days-out alert that I set did NOT go out. This is important, because I cancel the game if not enough players have signed up as attending by three days out.

Yeah, I just saw the same thing on my monthly campaign. The weekly one has been sending the 1 day before default alerts fine, but my next monthly session is on May 5th. I added a 7 days before notification that should have gone out yesterday and did not. I'm guessing that the 1 day before event will happen but I won't be certain of that until Friday.

I'll look into the event notifications. There is sometimes a bit of a delay
on the forum notifications going out. We're looking into speeding things up
a bit.

Well … I don't think we're seeing "a bit of a delay". In the calendar event I'm specifically looking at the reminder for 7 days ahead of time should have been sent at noon Pacific time on Saturday. So it's almost two full days late now (46 hours or so) and I haven't seen it yet.
I think that's a bigger deal to Calion than it is to me, since I wanted the default one-day-before reminders and those are working again. But yeah, I'm not saying things are late, I'm saying custom reminder periods seems to not happen at all.

So yeah just to confirm, my calendar event for tomorrow (see the link in post 10 above) never did send out the 7 days ahead reminder that I requested, but the 24 hours default reminder went out seemingly like clockwork at about 11:30 this morning, Pacific time. The 7 day one wasn't delayed, it simply never occurred. So I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the same behavior Calion reports: We weren't getting any notifications, you did something and that fixed the 1 day prior default notifications but not custom ones.

Bump. I know you guys are incredibly busy, and I hate continually bugging you about stuff, but this one is really frustrating. I wish we could offer you money to fix specific problems :) Maybe I'll write such a system someday--right after I learn to program.

We did a reset of the background processing system that sends these you. You may have received some old ones because of that, but the system should be working now.
Note: we are moving servers tomorrow, so hopefully this system will be much much more stable then.

I haven't seen it yet. I suppose it's possible it will happen overnight or some such, but when they were working they fired off pretty close to the start time of the event minus 7 days or whatever.

Nope. I never received the old ones as Ryan suggested might happen in post 15 either. (Not that I wanted them especially, no point. I just mention it as a possible data point.)
If it helps, I don't think I've ever received a notice late. Both the normal 1 day before messages and the custom 7 day before messages either happen right at 24 (or 168) hours before the event starts or not at all. (In fact, I usually see the 1 day messages happen at 24.5 hours before start - if the event starts at 9 PM my time I get the reminder email around 8:30 PM the night before.)

Please, please fix this ASAP. I always set a notification four days out, so I can see who has signed up and cancel the game if needed. Today I got a notification that the game's tomorrow--and absolutely nobody is signed up. I need more than one day's notice of these things so I can adjust to things like this.

Please, please, please fix this. I only just realized that I only have two players signed up to come to the game tomorrow because OP did not remind me 4 days out like it's supposed to. This may cause me to cancel the game the day before, which I am extremely loath to do.

Bump again. Having my 4-days-out reminder set is purely worthless. It didn't go out once again, and again, the one-day-out reminder did.

BTW: Contrary to what I said above (or perhaps it was fixed in the reset mentioned earlier), manually resenting event notifications DOES work. Automatic notifications (except for the default 1-day notification) still aren't though, at least as of Sep. 22.
